Source Code License

Ordnary and its group companies publish some of our source code publicly, for example on GitHub. We do this so customers and the community can read it, verify it, and contribute improvements back to us. This page explains the license that applies to that code.

Source-available, not open source

Unless a repository explicitly says otherwise in its own LICENSE file, code we publish is source-available, not open source in the OSI sense. The code is public so you can read it and contribute to it. It does not grant permission to run, host, or reuse the software outside of that. Where a repository's LICENSE file refers to this page, this page's terms govern.

This applies to every public repository owned by Ordnary or any of its group companies and products, regardless of which brand's name is on it.

What you may do

• Read and study the code for any lawful purpose, including security research and evaluating how our products work.
• Fork the repository for the sole purpose of preparing a contribution back to us.
• Submit contributions, such as pull requests, patches, and issue reports with code suggestions, to our official repository.
• Run the code locally, unmodified or modified, solely to develop and test a contribution you intend to submit back to us, for no longer than reasonably necessary to prepare that contribution.

What you may not do

Except as expressly permitted above, you may not, without our prior written permission:

• Use the code, in whole or in part, to run your own instance of our product or any derivative of it, whether privately, internally, or self-hosted.
• Host, deploy, or make the code (or any service built on it) available to any third party, whether for a fee or free of charge.
• Offer a competing product or service, under our name or any other name, that is based on, derived from, or incorporates the code.
• Use the code, or any part of it, in your own personal or commercial projects unrelated to contributing back to us.
• Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or license notices in the code.
• Sublicense, sell, rent, or redistribute the code or copies of it, except as an unmodified fork maintained solely to prepare a contribution as described above.

Using our hosted services is governed separately by our Terms of Service, and is not affected by this page, which covers only the source code itself.

Contributions

By submitting a contribution to us, whether by pull request, patch, or any other means, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use, modify, sublicense, and distribute your contribution as part of the code or otherwise, without further obligation to you. You confirm you have the right to grant this license for the contribution you submit.

Trademarks

This page does not grant permission to use our names, logos, or trademarks, except to accurately describe the origin of the code, for example to say a repository is a fork of one of our projects, prepared for contribution.

No warranty

The code is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall we be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the code or the use of it.

Termination

Any use of the code outside the permissions above automatically terminates your rights under this license. We may grant broader rights to specific parties in a separate written agreement.

Governing law

This page is governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
