AI Usage Policy
Last updated July 22, 2026
See how we use AI in our services, how we handle your prompts and output, and what you're responsible for when you rely on AI output.
This AI Usage Policy explains how the AI features in our services work, how we handle your input and the output that results from it, and what your responsibilities are when you rely on that output. This policy supplements the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Acceptable Use Policy.
It applies to the AI features within our knowledge and automation tools, our developer platform, and Ordnary Web Services, and to any other service that references this policy, whether you use these features directly or access them through our API.
We build on third-party models, not our own
Ordnary does not train or operate its own foundation models. The AI features in our services are powered by Google's Gemini models, accessed through Google Cloud Vertex AI. What we build is the layer on top: the product experience, the logic that decides when and how a model is called, and the safeguards around it. Where this policy refers to "the models", we mean the underlying Gemini models we integrate with, not models we develop ourselves.
Because the models are operated by Google, certain aspects of how they're trained and how they behave are governed by Google's own policies, in addition to this one. This doesn't change who operates the underlying model; it describes how we use it and what that means for you.
How the models work
Gemini models generate text and other output by predicting likely continuations based on patterns learned during training. They don't look up verified facts and have no understanding or intent. Output can sound plausible yet still be incorrect, outdated, incomplete, biased, or inconsistent between requests. Different requests with the same input can produce different output.
Input and output
By "input" we mean anything you send to a model through one of our services: prompts, files, context, code, documents you index, or data passed within a workflow you configure. By "output" we mean what the model returns in response, through that service.
Between you and Ordnary, and subject to your compliance with our terms, we assign to you our rights in the output generated for you. You're responsible for your input and for how you use the output.
Use of your content
API and Ordnary Web Services customers: we don't use your input or output to train or improve any model, ours or Google's, except where you explicitly opt in or instruct us to do so, for example for fine-tuning you request yourself.
Consumer services: we don't use the content you submit to our services to train Google's models or a model of our own. Where we process your content to improve our own product features, and not the underlying model, we do so only in line with your privacy settings and the choices we offer you.
Safety review: regardless of the above, we may process input and output to detect and prevent abuse, ensure safety, debug issues, and comply with the law, with access controls that limit who can view your content.
Your responsibilities
Verify before you rely. Don't rely on output as the sole basis for decisions with legal, medical, financial, employment-related, safety, or other material consequences. Independently verify important information.
No professional advice. Output does not constitute legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
Rights to input. Only submit content you have the right to submit, and don't submit others' personal data without a lawful basis.
Transparency. Where you use output publicly or share it with people who could be misled by it, disclose, where appropriate or required, that the content was AI-generated.
High-risk use. You must apply appropriate human oversight for uses that could affect people's rights or safety, in accordance with applicable law, including the EU AI Act where relevant.
Prohibited AI uses
In addition to the Acceptable Use Policy, you may not use the AI features to:
- generate content that sexually exploits minors, or non-consensual intimate imagery;
- create malware, weapons, or instructions for serious physical harm;
- spread disinformation, impersonation, or manipulation at scale;
- infer or generate sensitive attributes about individuals to discriminate unlawfully;
- make unsupervised, consequential decisions about people (credit, employment, housing, insurance, legal, or similar) without human review and the required safeguards; or
- attempt to extract model weights or training data from the underlying models, or reconstruct them.
Accuracy, bias, and limitations
We work with Google to reduce harmful bias and improve accuracy, but we don't warrant that output is accurate, complete, current, original, or fit for your purpose. Output may reflect biases present in the underlying model's training data. Report problematic output to support@ordnary.com so we can investigate and, where appropriate, raise it with Google.
Third-party components
The AI features described in this policy are provided using Google's Gemini models via Google Cloud Vertex AI, under Google's own terms for that platform. Some features may also include other third-party or open-source components, under their own licenses. Where those licenses or terms impose conditions on your use of output, you must comply with them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time as our services, our relationships with model providers, and the law evolve. We'll communicate material changes through our services or by email.
